Race Report: 2016 SCCA Majors Tour Final Round

The 2016 SCCA Majors Final Round at Portland International Raceway

Chino, California (July 05, 2016) – Jackson Racing heads to the Final Round of the Majors Tour.

The Jackson Racing team headed up to the Pacific Northwest again for the last stop of the SCCA Majors Tour held at Portland International Raceway. Held over the 4th of July weekend, it always makes for a fun trip filled with friends, laughs, and racing.

Friday qualifying came and the weather was perfect! Oscar Jackson Jr. set out on the track and threw down a smoking lap time that landed the FR-S on pole by several seconds. The Jackson Racing Supercharger continues to work perfectly in all the different track conditions.

Saturday’s weather was just as nice, and would make for a great race. The green flag dropped and the cars were off! There was a multi car collision in turn 1, which resulted in one of the cars oiling down the track. The race was stopped for cleanup and rescheduled for Sunday morning.

Sunday was set to be a busy day, since there would be 2 STU races nearly back to back. Oscar Jackson Jr. set out from pole in Race 1 and quickly put some distance between the other competitors and drove to the win! The Jackson Racing FR-S came back to the pits for fuel and fresh BFGoodrich tires and went out to the grid for Race 2. Another start from pole and again Oscar Jr. was out in front. After a few laps there was a full course caution. This time the track was cleared quickly and the race commenced. Oscar Jr. and the Jackson Racing FR-S kept the push after the restart and pulled off another flag to flag win, the 11th win on the season.

Besides winning the races, Oscar Jr. was presented with his Championship trophies for both the Super Touring Light and Super Touring Under classes. It was a great season for Jackson Racing in the SCCA Majors Tour. Now the team prepares for the the SCCA National Championship Runoffs at Mid Ohio in September, with the hopes of bringing the National Championship home!

Race Report: 2016 SCCA Majors Tour Round 5

The 2016 SCCA Majors Round 5 at Pacific Raceways

Chino, California (June 01, 2016) – Jackson Racing races towards more wins at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA.

Jackson Racing headed north for Round 5 of the SCCA Majors Tour at Pacific Raceways. The weather in Washington can be unexpected. Rain? Sunny? Drizzle? Yes, those all can happen… Multiple times in one day. With the races being held on Memorial Day weekend, the weekend format was a little bit different. There was a qualifying on Saturday afternoon, another qualifying Sunday morning, Race #1 Sunday afternoon and Race #2 Monday morning.

The track was damp for Saturday morning’s qualifying. Oscar Jr. set out to put some laps in and landed the Jackson Racing FR-S on pole yet again.

Sunday had been raining on and off all morning, but the track was dry enough to keep the BFGoodrich R1-S dry race tires on. As the green flag dropped, Oscar Jr. started to turn his laps and put a good distance between the rest of the field. Lap after lap, the car maintained its poise and in the end Oscar Jr. came away with the win and a new Course Record!

Race Report: 2016 SCCA Majors Tour Round 4

The 2016 SCCA Majors Round 4 at Buttonwillow Raceway

Chino, California (May 03, 2016) – Jackson Racing continues their win streak at Buttonwillow Raceway in Buttonwillow, CA.

Round 4 of the SCCA Majors Tour took place this past weekend at Buttonwillow Raceway. It was going to be a hot weekend, but the Jackson Racing Team knew they had a good package and were confident the Jackson Racing Cooling package would stand the test.

Saturday morning qualifying went by very fast. Oscar Jackson Jr. threw down a fast qualifying time on one of his first few laps and pulled off. That time would be good enough to set the Jackson Racing Team on pole for the weekend by nearly 3 seconds.

Saturday’s race was later that afternoon, and for the first time the Jackson Racing Team was going to be offering a in-car live feed for fans to watch (Future live broadcasts will be available on www.jacksonracing.com/live).  As the race began, Oscar Jr. quickly put a gap between him and the other STU competitors. Oscar Jr. was able to maintain the gap throughout the race and took the win Saturday by a healthy margin.

Sunday was setting out to be hotter than Saturday. The Jackson Racing Team was getting the Live Race Feed ready before the Sunday race, but an internet connection issue didn’t allow the team to get the Live Feed running. This mishap took extra time, and caused the FR-S to arrive late on grid. This resulted in a last position, pit lane start. Oscar Jr. took the blame for this mishap and apologized to crew chief Oscar Sr. and the team. “It was a poor judgement call on my part. I knew the time was ticking down to get to grid, but I really wanted the live feed active for our fans out there,” explained Oscar Jr. “Overall, we learned how to get the feed to work more smoothly in the future. Thanks to RaceCast.me for their help with the setup. We will have a smooth live feed for all future races this year!”

The Sunday race starts, and Oscar Jr. was released from the pit lane after the field exited Turn 1. Oscar Jr. quickly started making his way through the pack towards the front. A full course safety car came up a few laps in. When the race went green again, Oscar Jr. made the push to the front and got around the leader. The Jackson Racing FR-S drove away to the 2nd victory of the weekend.

Next Round: May 28th-30th at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA.
